Constitution Education Fund Australia (CEFA) is an independent, non-partisan and non-profit organisation committed to increasing public understanding and appreciation of the Australian Constitution, its history and contemporary relevance. CEFA attracts support from all section of the Australian community for its education programme.
CEFA believes that all Australians, young and old, those born here and those who have come from other lands should have a broad understanding of the system of government that has made our country one of the most successful democracies in the world.
Australia is one of the few countries to have been continuously democratic throughout the course of the 20th century. The foundation of Australia's nationhood is the Australian Constitution. It is uniquely Australian, and embraces the democratic values and principles, which still unite us today after more than 100 years of successful Federation.
CEFA is dedicated to educational initiatives and processes that raise awareness and improve understanding about Australia's system of government. Our programs engage Australians in our parliamentary democracy, our heritage and history, our values, our rule of law and its evolution, our rights and responsibilities, our system of government, and our traditions and English language.
Our current major project is the development of an interactive web site for schools exploring democracy, our government and the Australian way of life through video and social media that relates directly to the natonal civics and citizenship curriculum.
